Since 2012 neighbors of Lents and 6 adjacent neighborhoods have connected at the tool library over shared values, collective resilience and togetherness. The library’s grassroots origins and its engaged community of members like you have ensured a no-cost tool borrowing for everyone in the service area, and even beyond.
In 2021 our membership has reached an unprecedented 2,000+ members, accomplishing 1,500+ home projects in that year alone, and adapting services to include a kitchen section, revamped seed library, free air pollution protection and gardening aid for all!

We are halfway through to raising $5,000 to:
- Strengthen our volunteer base through: 1. Tool Librarian leadership training and support. 2. Developing a community gathering space for members, volunteers and groups to more meaningfully connect and support each other.
- Connect a greater diversity of neighbors to the library’s resources through: 1. Regular Spanish-language shifts, library tours, outreach and volunteer training. 2. Translation of outreach materials in Cantonese, Korean, Russian, and Vietnamese. 3. Expanding outreach beyond channels for technically savvy audiences.
If your life has been enriched by our Tool Library and its community, would you help us today to strengthen our volunteer stewardship, and ensure the library’s no cost borrowing model continues into the future?
