SEED Library

A seed is a map. A blueprint. A time capsule. A story.
A seed is a mystery we hold in our palms and count out every spring.
Planting each one is a small act of hope.

exchange seeds at the tool LIbrary, Year-Round!
Open during regular tool library hours (Saturdays 10am-1pm & WEdnesdays 6-8pm)

Green Lents offers a Seed Library for community to come and share seeds! Growing food and pollinator plants where you can, the Seed Library is an evolving storehouse of Organic and Non-GMO seeds that is free to all and hopefully will become an ongoing source of heirloom seeds suited for our unique planting zone and climate.

How it works!

Borrow: Choose what you'd like to grow and take what you need.
Grow: Plant and grow your seeds! Feel free to also check out our gardening books and pamphlets.
Return: Harvest seeds from your healthiest and tastiest plants. Bring back extra seeds following instructions below.
Donate:
  • Any organic/non-GMO vegetable, herb and pollinator-flower seed packed for the current planting year.
  • Seeds must be cleaned, dry and winnowed from husks and chaff.
  • Use our fill-in labels (available at the Seed Library), or print them at home (CLICK HERE), and enter as much planting info as you can about your variety.
  • Use our zip-lock seed bags (available at the Seed Library), or use your own sealed and water-proof bags, and include enough seeds for one or two plantings. Include label.
  • Bring to the Tool Library during open hours, and put in Donation Box, next to the Seed Library.

Besides gardening tools and seeds, we also have a rich gardening book lending library, monthly Plant Swaps (Mar-June, Sept-Oct), and seasonal Garden Workshops, including seed saving!
