Green Lents is excited to be working with the Portland Department of Urban Forestry on the annual Yard Tree Giveaway! The goal of this program is to increase our urban tree canopy to combat extreme heat, improve air quality, absorb stormwater runoff, and make our communities more livable for decades to come.
The Yard Tree Giveaway program offers up to two free trees per year for private property owners within Portland city limits. (Renters may apply as well with consent from the homeowner.) Registration is now open to pick out your tree with the link below!

Lents and its surrounding neighborhoods are priority areas for this program based on their lack of urban tree canopy and higher percentage of BIPOC residents. To make sure our most environmentally impacted communities benefit most from this resource, we will be organizing volunteer opportunities to promote the Yard Tree Giveaway throughout Lents.
We are seeking volunteers to pick up tabling shifts on Saturdays at our Tool Library, and we welcome your creative ideas to spread the word in the community. If you’d like to help make Lents a greener place, please email [email protected].
